Unlike strictly military cemeteries, America’s Cemetery is reflection of the whole of America. The Avenue of 444 Flags and the War on Terror Veterans Memorial make up the patriotic focal point of America’s Cemetery, but those few acres are set within more than 80 acres of burial grounds for all people.
The vast majority of people in this country have never been part of the military services. We treasure their presence here as much as we do those who have served.
As the United States was founded on the basis of respect for all faiths and persuasions, Hillcrest Memorial Park, now America’s Cemetery, was established in 1937 as a nondenominational resting place that welcomes everyone regardless of personal beliefs. There are broad expanses within the cemetery for those who do not wish to be linked with any faith. There are gardens with religious symbols for those who do.
There are also sections where pets may be buried by themselves or with their owners. The cemetery also includes courtesy lots for where complementary grave sites are provided for infants and children under 12. Grave sites in the Garden of Valor are also provided at no cost.
